At Orkney Crab we are committed to sourcing our produce from those who operate to the highest standards of welfare and environmentally friendly practices. To this end we employ our own in-house sustainability officer who is responsible for facilitating the Orkney Crab Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) and engaging with Community Catch following the promising trial of their new standard. 

The Community Catch Trial finished in September 2024 and was a very exciting piece of work to be involved in. Orkney Crab helped feed into the development of the sustainability standard, while at the same time testing ourselves against it. Orkney Crab ended the trial with an understanding of the Community Catch Standard and will be looking to enter as a formal client soon.
